"I consider myself an-arm chair politician," says Karen. "I have always followed political races, felt it was my moral as well as Christian duty to participate as an American citizen in elections and to stay informed. After the 2012 presidential elections, however, I found myself in shock over the results. Where was the church in this election? Why was the voice of believers across this great nation not heard? Who was taking a stand for righteousness in our government?

"One poll reported that over 60% of evangelical Christians did not vote in the 2012 elections. It seemed to me that many had not voted as a form of conscientious- objection to the candidate choices. Unfortunately, their non-vote was really a vote for the very policies that they did not truly support.

"Last October, after a Thursday Morning Impact women's meeting at Resurrection Life Church, I was engaged in a deep conversation with Ilonka Deaton, who had just ministered to our women's group, and her friend, Judy Buffham-Hemmila. As we talked together, we found that we shared a common love for our country and a passion to see the church-at -large rise up and find her voice in government, especially in this next presidential election. In a matter of minutes, we rallied around one common cause: the need to restore America back to God's moral compass...and in that same moment, we agreed that we would do something to sound a call to believers everywhere to unite their voices to make it heard- without apology, without intimidation, not bowing to political correctness, but making a bold stand for God's righteousness for the sake of the future of America. It was there that Voices United USA was birthed."

Karen and her husband, Bill, have lived over 30 years in Walker, Michigan where they raised their 4 children and are enjoying their growing family of 6 grandchildren. Their summer fun revolves around sailing on Lake Michigan with family and friends in their sailboat.
